Health career an asset

I support Mary Lou Johnson to be our next Spokane County commissioner.

As a former community health nurse, she will bring expertise to the Spokane Regional Health District. A commissioner is responsible for improving the quality of life for the people of this community, and health is one of the most important factors. She understands that health outcomes and longevity are greatly influenced by income level, race and the neighborhood in which the person lives.

Her same health career background will be very helpful in implementing alternatives to incarceration.

We know that at least two-thirds of the people in the county jail have mental health and/or addiction problems. She understands these issues.

Finally, her education and training in law make her an ideal candidate to lead this county as a commissioner.

George Girvin, M.D.
