Envision self-reliance

Look out, Spokane. Just when you thought it was safe to go outside, along comes another socialist idea wrapped in a teary proposal to make us all feel good.

Please, carefully examine the philosophy behind Envision Spokane’s family wage proposal. It’s an assault on individual rights in favor of group rights; an assault on the liberty of private enterprise to engage as they see fit in the marketplace; an attack on the economic system that has benefited this county for over 239 years.

I was hoping the Obama administration was the nadir of progressive thought and action. I was wrong. Right here in my own back yard is a group dedicated to destroying our economic system on the progressive altar of make-believe rights. News flash: Businesses have rights; individuals have rights; groups have no rights.

To succeed in our society, get an education, work hard and develop a moral value system based on, dare I say it, Christian values of family and God. Don’t go through life expecting other people to provide for you. Provide for yourself.
