House OKs Grocery Credit Hike

With absolutely no debate, the House has voted 68-1 in favor of HB 330, Rep. Mike Moyle’s bill to raise the grocery tax credit by $10 per person next year. The sole dissenter was Rep. Fred Wood, R-Burley; Rep. Brent Crane, R-Nampa, missed the vote. “HB 330 has passed the House and will be transmitted immediately to the Senate,” House Speaker Scott Bedke announced. The grocery tax credit currently is $120 for seniors and $100 for everyone else; HB 330 would raise it to $130 for seniors and $110 for everyone else, costing the state general fund $13.8 million next year/ Betsy Russell , Eye on Boise.

Question: Are you disappointed that the Legislature apparently won’t eliminate the sales tax for groceries?
