Follow-up abortion questions

Gary Crooks (July 26) cites FactCheck.org’s summary statement on the first Planned Parenthood video as the last word: “It remains legal to donate tissue from a legally aborted fetus, and for that tissue to be used for research purposes.” Why no follow-up questions? Federal law allows for reimbursement of reasonable costs. What costs are included? Who monitors the tissue donation market for violations of this standard? Why would the reasonable costs vary depending on whether the tissue is heart, liver or brain? What is the nature of the research, and what has been learned?

FactCheck.org mentioned the second video, but failed to comment on the doctor who said “I want a Lamborghini” while discussing prices. She didn’t sound like she was joking.

Now, there’s a third video. How do you spin this statement: “I think the per-item [pricing] works a little better, just because we can see how much we can get out of it.” What does this mean, if the payment only covers expenses? How much does Planned Parenthood collect from organ donation each year?

And finally, when will he ask Democrats to comment on whether a clump of cells with a heartbeat is a life or not?
