Vote yes on library issue

In a competitive world, communities move forward only with key elements in place. Great surroundings and hard-working people aren’t enough. Within the global economy, communities must have necessary infrastructure in place; public safety, good management, efficient transportation and basic amenities. Equally important, however, is the commitment to its schools and libraries, and how it values education and knowledge.

This is why, speaking as a private citizen and business owner who owes much to this community and appreciates its potential, I’m asking citizens of the greater Spokane Valley and Millwood to vote for our libraries on Aug. 4.

For just $22 a year on a $200,000 house, we can continue to build upon that vital piece of infrastructure. We can enrich the lives of children. We can continue and expand accessibility to print and to digital media. We can assist resource-challenged small businesses. We can offer technology, information and entertainment to budget-challenged families in times of limited finances, and we can provide the tools for employment opportunities. Hard-to-find meeting places would be more available.

Budgets matter, but these are well-spent dollars and an important investment in our future. Thank you.
