A close eye on Iran

“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer,” is often attributed to Sun-Tzu, a Chinese general and military strategist in 400 B.C. True then and true today.

When our government, along with five other countries, negotiated and signed the Iran deal, I’m sure that they had Sun-Tzu’s saying in mind: Be closer to your enemies so you can keep an eye on them. But sadly, we have political leaders in our country who would rather beat the drums of war than actually take the time to read the Iran nuclear deal.

Did they not learn their lesson from the war in Vietnam 50 years ago? No? Did they not learn their lesson from the Iraq invasion and occupation 12 years ago that spawned the current catastrophe and chaos that infects the entire Middle East today? No? Well, then perhaps it should be mandatory that all future presidents and members of Congress take their oaths of office in Arlington Cemetery.
