Crooks’ view unbalanced

In Gary Crooks’ July 26 Smart Bombs column, he makes reference to the recent Planned Parenthood video scandal about fetus selling as a bogus issue. Somehow, he thinks that because, in the full transcript of the interview with the Planned Parenthood doctor, the statement is made that the charges for body parts are only for expenses, not for profit, there is no scandal.

So, the doctor also says in the recording that the harvesting of body parts is done methodically per the end user’s specification, and Crooks says that there is no scandal? And that when the doctor says, “I do think feedback is good too … (from end users), it just kind of adds a whole human touch” there is no irony about the humanness? Fine and well.

He made his point that there probably isn’t anything strictly illegal about the way fetus “selling” is done; but if he wants us to respect his integrity as a journalist he should have balanced his write-up with a line like this: “There remains the issue of Planned Parenthood methodically dismembering viable unborn humans that many Americans will find scandalous.”
