WSU begins fall practice today, but let’s chat first

The Washington State Cougars begin the 2015 football season at 2:30 p.m. today in Lewiston, Idaho. I’m going to head down early and find an (iced) coffee peddler that will bestow upon me the internet access I need to host a live chat at 1 p.m. so we can all speculate how the Cougars will look before we actually get a chance to see.

Mike Leach already did his camp preview – a media teleconference yesterday. We have a transcript here . We also took an early look at the Cougars in the paper today, speculating about which players should emerge as primary contributors this fall and which still have something to prove.

I also want to pass along this profile of former Cougar defensive lineman Xavier Cooper.

In other Pac-12 news:

— The Wildcats have a competition brewing to see who will snap the ball to Anu Solomon.

— Arizona State quarterback Mike Bercovici won’t need long to establish a rapport with his newest receiver.

— Here is a preview of California’s training camp.

— Christian Powell ha a chance to be Colorado’s leading rusher in four different seasons .

— Only a sophomore, Oregon running back Royce Freeman is already emerging as a leader.

— Jason Quick says Oregon State appears rejuvenated under new coach Gary Andersen.

— Stanford’s goal is clear: Division championship .

— Deon Hollins will be a terror on the edge of the Bruins defensive line.

— USC’s Cody Kessler is trying to ignore the attention that coms with being a star QB in Los Angeles.

— Utah’s Cory Butler finally made it to a Pac-12 program, just a little bit later than he planned.

— Washington’s QB competition will continue into fall camp.
