Lawsuit anti-democratic

Not content with the biased poison pill “advisory” comments added by City Council to the Workers Bill of Rights initiative, Mayor Condon, at the behest of GSI, Spokane Home Builders and his moneyed special interest friends, is doubling down and committing taxpayer dollars for a lawsuit to keep it off the ballot.

Last go-around, the city declined the plea from the Spokane Home Builders and business community to foot the legal bill. They decided to give it a go with their own money and lost. This time, you and I will pay for this attempt to subvert the long-held democratic right for citizens to petition their government through the citizen initiative process. Support the initiative or not, it’s up to voters to decide, not the mayor.

Condon must be lining up his big-money boys for a congressional run as soon as Cathy McMorris Rodgers calls it quits. This is yet another self-promoting elitist political maneuver by Condon, and why I voted for Shar Lichty for mayor.
