Hold town hall meetings

Once again, the congressional August recess is here. And as usual, the Republican-controlled House scurried out of D.C. last week with their work left undone.

In jumping the clock on their “district work sessions/vacations,” they refused to stay in town and debate the six-year highway bill the country desperately needs. They also refused to reauthorize the Ex-Im Bank, which affects many businesses here in Washington.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers, in her capacity as chair of the Republican Conference, needs to accept the consequences of this lack of attention to legislative inaction. If she holds a town hall meeting in the district counties, I encourage you to show up and express your concerns. I also challenge her to schedule at least two town hall meetings in Spokane in a venue that will hold enough people to be an audience, e.g., Lincoln Center.

I would ask that she schedule these town hall meetings enough in advance that people will have an opportunity to attend.

It is interesting that even the Republicans are fed up with an intellectuality bankrupt and soulless party.
