Shock weighing league options
The next few weeks are going to be interesting for the Spokane Shock and the AFL.
The playoffs begin this weekend with Spokane taking on Arizona on Saturday, but the AFL’s long-term health is under scrutiny again after a turbulent weekend in which Las Vegas and New Orleans ceased operations. The Outlaws qualified for the playoffs — thanks in part to a league-issued tie when the Las Vegas-New Orleans game was canceled — but the board of directors (AFL owners who were paying the team’s expenses) voted to ban the team from the playoffs. Instead, Portland will face top-seeded San Jose.
Where does that leave the Shock in 2016, and beyond? Spokane will explore all of its available options, including taking a long look at the Indoor Football League, which includes Tri-Cities as a member.
