Our values are adrift

There will come a time when what was considered right will be wrong, and what was wrong will be right; things will be upside down, a foreboding predicted by Scripture. Never was that more accurate than when reading Harry Reid’s inane answer to the Senate Republicans who sought unsuccessfully to defund Planned Parenthood for selling an infant’s organs after an abortion.

Republicans are attacking women’s rights, he said, and continued: “It’s our right (as Democrats) to protect our wives, daughters and granddaughters from the GOP’s absurd politics.” But the real clincher is this: “The Republican Party has lost its moral compass.” Really? Really?

Somehow, I cannot imagine a more abusive, barbaric culture than one that kills its most defenseless, unless it’s one that then sells parts from those mutilated bodies.

Should we be surprised? With a nation adrift from its spiritual moorings, having lost its fear of God, what kind of reasoning should we expect? Again, Scripture admonishes us to “Come let us reason together.”

Do we have reasoning ability to recognize issues so heinous, yet twisted into “right” by powerful politicians? God help us come to our senses.
