Idaho students’ SAT scores drop slightly, driven by decline in math scores
Idaho high school juniors who took the SAT college entrance exam in April – and nearly all did, as the state pays for the test scored slightly lower than the previous year’s class, reports Idaho Education News, with math scores showing the most significant decrease, down 2.6 percent. Critical reading scores dropped by 0.6 percent from 2014, and writing scores came in 1.1 percent higher.
EdNews reporter Kevin Richert writes that the news follows release of SBAC student achievement test scores in July that showed a decline in high school math scores, with just 30 percent of 10 th graders scoring proficient in math, vs. 61 percent in English language arts. Richert’s full report is online here .
