Lenient sentencing not working

What will it take for our judicial system to realize that lenient sentencing for repeat offenders isn’t working? Are you kidding me? Twenty-plus convictions and they get out with little or no time behind bars.

A grandmother lost her life on Ruby Street while strolling with her granddaughter. Marla Langley was run over by habitual criminal Brandon Pratt, whose past is alarming, to say the least. Langley did not have a chance when hit by a car driven by this drug-influenced, lifetime felon. He should never again be let out of jail.

How about Cephas Parham, who was apprehended after allegedly attempting to rob a local eatery. He has 29 previous felony convictions.

Every day, it’s the same sad news where someone is robbed, raped or killed by someone who should have been institutionalized or put on death row. We should stand up to a judicial system that allows the quick release of these nonproductive low-lifes. The judicial system needs to be held accountable for its lenient ways. Change the laws so we can be safe on our own streets.
