SS benefits already cut

I had to educate a few people today at my protest at the Colville town hall meeting who buy into Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ lies that she wouldn’t cut Social Security benefits. She already did.

The very first day of the Republican-led 114th Congress, she and her cohorts in crime took the first step to end all Social Security by adopting a procedural rule that forbids the House from approving any financial fix to the Social Security Disability Insurance program unless it is accompanied by broader Social Security reforms.

The SSDI Trust Fund is expected to run out of money in 2016. Republicans knowingly took this step, realizing it could result in a 20-plus percent reduction in the checks the disabled depend on. This means the disabled have to choose what they can afford: prescriptions, food, heat, etc.

Meanwhile, all the mindless sheep of the 5th Congressional District worry about their guns being taken, or getting enough trees to log from our public lands to keep the local mills in business. Wake up, people.
