Edit: Crude Is Down, Why Not Gas?
The price of Western Texas Intermediate crude oil dipped below $42 a barrel Wednesday. According to USA Today, that’s the lowest it’s been since March 2009. Some experts think it could slip to $30 a barrel. The credit goes to a glut brought on by ramped-up domestic production, a price war with Saudi Arabia and falling demand stemming from a sluggish Chinese economy. But where’s the relief at the pump? Today, you’re paying close to $3 a gallon. What were you charged 61/2 years ago? Would you say $2.70 a gallon? How about $2.35? A couple bucks a gallon? Nope. The last time crude fell this low, gas sold at $1.82 a gallon.Yet, Idahoans have paid the seventh highest fuel prices in the country for a good part of the summer/Marty Trillhaase, Lewiston Tribune.
