Proud to be an American

An Aug. 21 attack on innocent citizens was interrupted by three Americans who happened to be passengers aboard a high-speed train in Europe. It is far from the first time our countrymen have defeated adversaries on European soil. Recall Normandy, Bastogne and fields of honor across the continent.

The Moroccan assailant, armed with an automatic weapon and blades, was taken down without loss of life, as France remains on high alert following events in Paris in January. When I heard what happened there, far from home, I was simply, and once more, gratefully proud to be an American.
