Uphold American values

Although I deplore violence toward innocent victims, let us not collectively penalize all Syrian refugees for the atrocities of terrorists. Support President Obama and Gov. Jay Inslee in their courageous stand to uphold American values that welcome refugees and immigrants. Speak up against any type of discrimination that judges others based on their ethnicity or religion.

Our recent power outage is a tiny taste of what refugees face on a daily basis. Even though I am currently inconvenienced by living without power, I know it is only temporary. I have resources and places to go to that will welcome me without having to pass a litmus test of whether or not I am “worthy” of receiving support.

Encourage our leaders to uphold our American commitment to provide sanctuary to those in need.
