WSU’s big recruiting weekend pays off early

Washington State is hosting at least nine football recruits this weekend and at least one of them likes what he sees enough to accept a scholarship offer.

Per this report (subscription required) from Cougfan.com, cornerback Robert Taylor has decided to play for the Cougars. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back is a junior college transfer and has primarily played safety, but is considered a future cornerback by the recruiting services.

He should immediately figure into the cornerback depth alongside returning starters Darrien Molton and Marcellus Pippins, as well as experienced backup Charleston White.

Taylor comes from the City College of San Francisco, the same school that produced starting safety Shalom Luani. This past season he had 43 tackles and five interceptions Per the report, Taylor also had scholarship offers from Purdue and West Virginia.

Taylor began his career at UC Davis after a prep career at Deer Valley High in Antioch, California, but left after his freshman season. He will have two years of on-field eligibility at WSU, plus a redshirt season available should he need it.
