No need for assault weapons

Assault weapons have no valid use in the hands of civilians. If people think they need to have the “thrill” of shooting weapons of murder, let them rent time with them in a legally licensed shooting range, or use some other arrangement that can be devised.

There should be no availability of assault weapons, automatic weapons or semi-automatics that can be converted in this country. To allow their presence is to enable, or even to encourage, the murder for which they were designed.

Their absence will not stop all gun violence, but it will certainly limit the number of deaths. Surely, we can all agree that less violent deaths is a worthy goal that every American should desire and work toward.
