GU comes up short in crunch time

Gonzaga’s Kyle Wiltjer, right, fights UCLA’s Jonah Bolden, left, for a critical turnover in the second half Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015 at McCarthey Athletic Center. UCLA edged the Zags 71-66. (Jesse Tinsley / The Spokesman-Review)

Good evening. Back home after Gonzaga’s 71-66 loss to UCLA on Saturday. This one looked a lot like GU’s two previous losses (Arizona and Texas A&M): a tight game that came down to the closing minutes with the opponent making more plays than the Zags.

Another tough loss, and some tough news on the injury front. Przemek Karnowski didn’t attend the game because of his ailing back. Coach Mark Few said Karnowski’s back has gotten worse and it doesn’t look like the big man will be back any time soon.
