Morin cartoon dismisses Carson

In his Dec. 18 cartoon of the Republican debate , Jim Morin Debate quoted Jeb Bush as saying “You’re not going to be able to insult your way into the presidency.” Eight of the nine candidates were then shown saying derogatory comments blasting Hillary Clinton or President Obama. That left one candidate, Dr. Ben Carson, with Zs above his head.

Now, to The Spokesman-Review reader that could leave one of two impressions: That Carson was asleep during the debate; or that when it comes to being an honorable candidate, he stands above the fray and just perhaps takes a few Zs while his cohorts take on Hillary instead of the tough issues at hand. Personally, I believe in the latter. Carson has all of the qualities needed to make a great president, and wisdom enough to pick experts in each field for the Cabinet, and heads of his administration. In fact, to my knowledge, Carson is the only presidential candidate who admits he doesn’t know everything. That

takes humility, an endearing quality at a time when we see nearly ego-maniacs out there on the campaign trail.
