Idaho Licenses Not Security Worthy

Idaho lawmakers say they’re in ‘crisis mode’ trying to figure out how to keep Idahoans from being turned away at TSA checkpoints. Come January 2016, drivers licenses issued in Idaho will not be in compliance with the federal Real ID Act. The act was passed in 2005 by Congress to prevent terrorists from making fake IDs. Idaho lawmakers weren’t keen on the idea and in 2008 passed a law preventing the Idaho Transportation Department from following the guidelines. Lawmakers say they are now working on a way to come in compliance. “We are exploring all of the options,” Sen. Bert Brackett, Chairman of the Transportation Committee, told On Your Side reporter Chris Oswalt. “(We are looking) as many (ideas) as we can. We can’t come in compliance, even if we tried, right away.” Brackett says that is because getting in compliance would cost $20 million/ Christopher Oswalt , Fox 9. More here.

Question: Wouldn’t it be swell if our paranoid Idaho Legislature caused a problem with our Idaho licenses that prevented airport security from allowing us on planes? When does this nonsense end?
