Nothing new in news

This new year has shown the worst of times and the best of times.

The Spokane City Council has designated Spokane a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants, but the next week the council denies pre-born babies the sanctuary of their mothers’ womb.

At the March for Life in Washington, D.C., Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers endorses the Pain Capable Act in the House of Representatives, which shows the ability of innocent pre-born babies are capable of feeling pain while enduring an abortion procedure. Late-term abortions are abhorred by most Americans, particularly after 20 weeks gestation, when most children are able to survive outside the womb. Fifty-seven million American lives taken are not safe, legal nor rare.

In the next day’s Spokesman-Review was an article advocating the use of the execution sedative midazolam so convicted criminals are immune to pain during execution. What enlightened minds think through these dilemmas?

Of course, the most discussed items in the news are Deflategate, followed by snow blizzards in the East; both undoubtedly caused by global warming from the 1,700 private jets flown to Davos, Switzerland, for discussing the economy and disparity in wealth.

There is nothing new under the sun.
