Christina Oss LaBang tells of a close encounter with a falling tree along the lake side of the Dike Road Tuesday: “They were cutting the trees down along the dike road today, while Angelina and I were riding our bikes, and we were on the inside of the college parking lot when Angelina yelled ‘MOM!’ and I veered to the right. A tree fell where I had been seconds ago. There were many onlookers who heard the cracking of the tree and were watching it fall with such a near disaster of a crash. I was wearing a helmet but I could easily have died today. Cherish every second of this life. It could be your last moment alive.”
