On The Waterfront
My walking partner Greg Lee and I counted 330 trees that will be left along the Dike Road, once the chainsaws have gone quiet — or far less than the 700 projected by the city of Coeur d’Alene. Greg counted the ones on the North Idaho College side of the Dike Road — 136 — and I counted the ones on the water side — 194. A few of the trees with green dots remained in the mixed. They are scheduled for the blade. We didn’t count those. Bottom line? I suspect at least 50 percent of the trees were cut, not 30%, as advertised. I still think the work needed to be done.
