Support Mead bond, levy
In 2013, I served on the Mead Facilities Planning Committee. The committee was made up of current parents in the district and others, like myself, who no longer have children in school. We are all taxpayers, just like you.
The learning environment plays a large role in a student’s education. If the halls are so narrow and crowded a student has to struggle to make it to his or her next class, that takes away from their educational experience. If the carpets are shabby or the roof leaks, or the HVAC system isn’t working properly, that takes away from their educational experience.
We also looked at the security of the buildings. We concluded that our schools could use a major upgrade in security improvements. We all want our child to be safe while they are at school. We also made recommendations to improve the district’s technology capabilities.
The committee felt the recommendations we made were very practical solutions to very real needs in the district. As a taxpayer, I am very comfortable recommending a yes vote on both the bond and the levy.
