Look past scare tactics

I raised kids educated in Spokane Valley schools, worked for a large employer in Spokane and have retired. Many workmates were successfully recruited to Spokane, in part, because of the quality of the public schools. We supported the schools. We spend our wages locally, including buying a lot of car tires.

Today, my grandchildren attend area schools because their parents got a good education here, went out to see the world and came back; realizing that Spokane is a good place to raise children, particularly because of the quality of public schools.

I served on a Central Valley School District committee to figure out how to maintain and perpetuate the quality of CVSD schools within the means of our community members. At no time during that planning effort did the Citizens for Responsible Taxation offer input, only getting involved with their scary yellow flier as ballots hit citizens’ homes. They do not seem to be truly responsible citizens.

I hope Spokane-area voters, especially those in the CV district, see beyond these scare tactics to continue the high quality of public education in this community with yes votes for schools.
