Shea is irresponsible
Dear Spokane: I’m a gun owner. I have a conceal permit. I voted against Initiative 594. And I just wanted to distance myself from Rep. Matt Shea.
When I exercise my right to carry a weapon, whether openly or concealed, I exercise this right with extreme caution. My revolver can kill or maim people. It’s the most dangerous thing I own. Therefore, if I am carrying it, it’s always with me. I don’t leave it unattended. I don’t pull it out to show people. I don’t wave it around. When I’m not carrying it, it’s always in a safe place.
There are a lot of individuals in our community who are responsible gun owners. Shea is not one of them. He has threatened another motorist with his weapon, which was illegally concealed. And now he is telling people that I-594 is not a law. Well, it is. I don’t like it, but it is. And that means I have to follow it.
Shea wants to talk about the Second Amendment. That’s fine. If Matt had lived around the time of our founding fathers and wanted to wave his pistol around, he would’ve ended up in the stocks. Shame.
