Strong school, strong city
Please pull your ballot out of the trash. It is critical to ensuring Spokane schools can thrive and be an important driver for the growth and attractiveness of the city.
As a relative newcomer to Spokane, schools were a key factor in our decision to relocate. Our experience in a variety of cities has shown that strength of schools is an indicator of economic livelihood and health of the community.
Ponder as you open that envelope:
It’s a big deal; the levy makes up about 25 percent of the districts’ operating budget. Sure, it might make more sense if these funds came from an ongoing budget, but they don’t, so it’s up to you to vote periodically for their continuation.
The bond and levy are not new. They are renewals, so you won’t notice a change in your pocket money, but you will notice the improvements to our community.
Your money is used responsibly. I’m impressed at how the district stretches funds creatively to get a lot done to improve safety and learning.
Grab your ballot, vote yes for kids, and then return your ballot. It doesn’t help sitting on the kitchen counter.
