Do the math

Do the math. Once again, as we are being asked to support our schools, a lot of misinformation is being thrown at us. So rather than taking someone else’s word for it, I did the math for myself, and this is what I came up with.

All numbers used were based on actual research of the bond and levy as provided by Spokane County, Central Valley School District’s website and my 2014 property tax assessment. Based on these numbers, I will be paying an estimated $1,090, or $20.96 a week, in school property taxes for 2015.

According to the district’s website, there are 23 schools and around 13,000 students in the district, which means I will be paying $47.39 for each school, or $0.08 per student. This amount is only slightly different from what I paid in 2014, and well worth it.

So, please think for yourself and make your own decision based on facts, not scare tactics. Do the math. And if you can do the math, thank your teachers and those who paid taxes for the schools when you were growing up.
