Wild Card/Monday — 2.9.15

I spent the weekend watching my brother-in-law and brother replace a water heater for me. I often wonder why I didn’t get the aptitude for working with my hands that my father had — and my two brothers have. I’m the only one of the family to haul hay and work in the alfalfa fields with my father. I grew up around machinery. Drove tractors in the field. Helped in the cattle branding. But none of it stuck. All I wanted to do is read and write for a career. Which I’ve enjoyed and continue to enjoy. But it would be nice to have a little more hands-on skill when things break or quit working.
