House, Senate mark Lincoln Day
Both the House and Senate have observances scheduled today for Lincoln Day, in celebration of President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday today. In the House, 4 th graders from Riverstone Elementary School recited the Gettysburg Address; Reps. Robert Anderst and Rich Wills read the Emancipation Proclamation; Reps. Melissa Wintrow and Luke Malek delivered Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address; and a trio from Borah High School gave an a capella three-part harmony performance of “America the Beautiful.”
In the Senate, Sens. Mary Souza and Abby Lee will give opening and closing remarks; Sen. Chuck Winder will offer a prayer; Senate pages will present quotes from Lincoln; and vocalist Ashley Smith will sing “America the Beautiful.”
