On The Waterfront
Today was a gorgeous February day for a walk along the waterfront — and to check up on tree-thinning work along the Dike Road:
- It appeared as though Street Department crews were working on stump removal near the mouth of the Spokane River.
- I thought I’d ferreted out a conspiracy to gouge motorists when I spied a row of 10-12 parking meters popping their heads from the retaining wall opposite NIC’s Hedlund Building. But NIC PRmeister Tom Green tells me they’ve been there for years, serving the customers of Emery’s Restaurant. I usually walk on the Dike Road. So I’ve never noticed those meters before.
- Lake Coeur d’Alene’s water is well up the north shore beaches.
- 4 people with metal detectors were operating at City Beach.
- Heavy equipment was carving a path through the dirt embankment along the Centennial Trail b/n the old Osprey building (UIdaho’s North Idaho campus) and the H95 bridge. Dunno what’s up with that. But I’ll keep an eye on it.
- Meanwhile, you need to get outside and walk. Or bike. Viewtiful weather to go with a viewtiful town.
