DOTC: I ♥’s New Water View
Dan of the Community (RE:
Erickson: Why we cut Dike Road trees
): I’m not an expert on trees, federal requirements for levy and flood
protection, etc., so will leave those technical comments to people who are. But I was able to take a slow drive and even park to contemplate the new view along the dike road this morning. My individual perspective as someone who was born and raised here and has been acquainted with the dike road for over 60 years is that I really liked was I saw.
If you like how the main city park looks, I think you will enjoy how the dike road looks now (and especially after all the cleanup and dirt smoothing is finished). In my opinion, there are still many majestic trees left standing and I appreciated how many of the older large trees are still there.
It has opened up the view for sure. And as much as I like viewing trees, I also really like viewing the lake. And frankly, there are many more places to view trees then there are to view the lakefront. I think this now provides a great balance of both.
Question: Any others out there who appreciate the new view along Dike Road?
