Dolan: What About Dike Road Wind?

In a letter, Fortground resident Mike Dolan writes re: possible wind problem caused by the cutting of the wind break along Dike Road: “I think there should have been some analysis before cutting the additional trees and also cutting the limbs down to get a view vista for people who use the road and those offices at NIC facing the lake. Did anyone take into consideration the substantial amount of wind that comes off the lake that is now going to move through the thinned out tree screen and hit the inner trees and buildings in our neighborhood? We do, after all, live right by the lake.” Full letter here.

DFO: As one who walks along the waterfront almost daily, I can attest to the fact that the area around the mouth of the Spokane River can be windy, with winds coming from the Southwest. It’ll be interesting to see how cutting of the trees affects the impact of the wind for users of Dike Road, NIC & the Fortgrounds neighborhood. Anyone?
