Mayor Offers Apology To KEA

Here’s Mayor Widmyer’s letter:

In regard to the levee recertification project along the Dike Road, some missteps were made in regard to the communication between the city and Kootenai Environmental Alliance. I would like to apologize for the city’s lack of communication related to the expanded scope of tree removal. Due to the federal regulations we are bound to, more trees than anticipated were required to be removed. This should have been more clearly communicated upfront to the KEA and other interested parties. As mayor, I will work to ensure that the communication between the city and KLA is more open in the future. The city values KEA’s passion to defend the natural and scenic resources that make our region so special. I look forward to working with your organization to achieve this common goal.
