Panel Votes For Repeal Of Perk

The House Commerce Committee has voted unanimously in favor of HB 100, to remove a special retirement perk that benefits longtime state lawmakers who end their careers with short stints in higher-paying, full-time state jobs. In those situations, the years of legislative services are counted as if they were all years of full-time work at the higher pay level, causing pensions to jump by many times. Under HB 100, legislative service would be treated the same as other part-time elected officials’ service for retirement purposes, including mayors and city council members. The bill now moves to the full House/ Betsy Russell , Eye on Boise. More here .

Question: Anyone in support of continuing this perk?
