Days Gone By: Old North Shore

OK, I know that I posted a photo earlier this week of Bob Templin’s old North Shore Hotel & Convention Center, from Neva Wolfe & the Facebookers at Old School North Idaho. But that one was of the North Shore without the seven-story tower that’s shown here. This photo represents what the North Shore looked like when I first saw it (circa 1980) during a business trip from Kalispell, Mont., to Coeur d’Alene. It stayed this way even after Duane Hagadone took it over in 1983, along with Templin’s hospitality empire. Hagadone began rebuilding the North Shore into the Coeur d’Alene Resort in the mid-1980s. The tower in this photo, I believe, formed the base for the 18-story tower that now exists at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.
