Not all opinions matter

We should stop pretending that everyone’s opinion matters.

Should children be vaccinated? The opinions of medical doctors with statistically valid data matter. Does the burning of fossil fuels warm the Earth? Atmospheric scientists whose studies have passed the rigorous test of peer review have opinions that matter.

While I happen to agree with Councilman Mike Fagan’s assertion that a council should solicit diverse opinions, in matters of science (and health science in particular), the opinions of the ignorant do not matter.
