Equal protection for gay citizens

I am a retired missionary minister and Wesleyan Methodist seminary professor. The Old and New Testaments are both opposed to homosexuality.

Nevertheless, gay people are also American citizens. I have known gay physicians, professors and accountants, some in the federal government, as well as ordinary citizens. I’ve been treated by and worked with and for them.

Nobody deserves to be assaulted or discriminated against because of their sexual persuasion, no matter what one’s opinion of it may be.

We live in a society of laws, not a theocracy. Gay citizens who obey the law observe the same protections and treatment as anyone else.

One may not approve of their lifestyle. They have the right to equal protection though.
