There will be no sanctuary

I went to the Jan. 5 Spokane City Council meeting that Council President Ben Stuckart obviously wanted to end before the council could vote on ending Spokane as a sanctuary city, which was created by an ordinance the council passed over a month ago.

This new law prohibits police from reporting immigration violations to federal authorities. That huge privilege of remaining anonymous is totally wrong. Yes, we all want to help those in need, but eventually the helping scale can only tip so far, and taxpayers will not be able to foot the bill for free privileges of illegals.

In a remarkably short time, just 25 years, illegal immigration, because it encourages the low-skilled and poorly educated to settle in the biggest cities with the highest public-sector costs, has lowered the standard of living for all Americans and established anti-growth levels of debt for both the states that promote sanctuary and the nation. Think $2.7 billion per year. Look at bankrupt California.

Check the math because soon we’ll all be looking for a sanctuary city in another country, and there isn’t any more United States of America. It’s the last really free nation in the world.
