Why re-elect McMorris Rodgers?
Tell me again why Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers got re-elected by the voters of the 5th Congressional District.
Let’s see, she has voted consistently to cut Social Security benefits, including pulling the party line on the Jan. 6 vote that would cut the amount on checks coming to folks with disabilities, which seems hypocritical because she has a disabled child of her own.
She voted against health care reforms, which she doesn’t have to worry about because of her family’s government-paid health care plan through her husband’s military retirement package. She voted against extending food stamp benefits, which affects several thousand people in her district who are living below the poverty level. Those are just a few.
Now, we see a picture of her standing up behind Rep. Steve Scalise, who made a speech to a white supremacist group, and who is the House majority whip (No. 3 person in leadership, and who would be one of her bosses) instead of denouncing his actions. Why do people in this district consistently vote against their best interests and keep returning Cathy to Congress?
