Terrorists a local threat

What bizarre reasoning does The Spokesman-Review editorial board use in supporting the Spokane City Council’s attack on public safety with the sanctuary city ruling? Why would anyone want to undermine the police’s ability to keep us safe?

Wake up. Islamic terrorists have vowed to destroy us. Jan. 8, the paper reports of two suspects charged with smuggling people from Pakistan and other countries across the Canadian border near Lynden, Washington. Terrorists struck in Paris, and recently in Canada. Do you think we are immune?

While in law enforcement, my men and I had the tools to protect our city. Illegal aliens were felons under Title 18 U.S. code, and state law gave us the ability to stop and check the identity of any person. Illegal aliens were arrested on suspicion of a felony and turned over to immigration. I feel sorry for our police and hope this sanctuary city doesn’t cause a disaster.
