WALeg Day 8: MLK Day resolutions plus other hot topics
OLYMPIA — The House and Senate will both pause for formal recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. today. The House is in session at 10 a.m. and the Senate at noon.
Legislators also have a busy day of committee hearings, once they start at 10 a.m. They’ll be lobbied by members of the Washington PTA with kids in tow, Planned Parenthood teens and Muslim groups from around the state, as well as individuals taking advantage of a day off from work or school to push their particular issues.
Senate Government Operations takes testimony on a bill involving remote testimony. House Environment will consider a bill banning some flame retardants. on flame retardants. House Transportation has a bill that would put some restrictions on traffic cameras used to issue speeding tickets.
