Along The Waterfront

Those who haven’t traveled the Dike Road this week will be surprised to see 60 to 70 trees gone along the North Idaho side of the the road that separates the college from the Spokane River. I counted 45-50 trees felled so far during my noon walk. And a city Street Department employee another 15 or so were designated for the saw today and tomorrow. That’ll get work crews around the southern bend a short ways along the lake for a short distance. The largest tree cut was about 4+ feet in radius. Big guy. There are still a lot of trees remaining. But the view has definitely opened up on both sides of the Dike Road. I asked the Street Department employee if the city planned to coninue cutting trees marked with a green dot along the lake side of the road. He wasn’t sure. Another crew will move in tomorrow to rip out the tree stumps.

Question: Have you checked out the tree cut along the Dike Road?
