Work together in Congress

The beginning of a new, two-year session of Congress offers an important opportunity for our political leaders to work together to solve our nation’s problems. No matter who we supported in the last election, we all have an opportunity to work together in the next two years to generate solutions to the many problems facing our country.

The United States was founded on participatory representative democracy and, as citizens, it is our voice that tells our representatives what is important and what is not. How can they govern effectively if voters are not willing to express their concerns?

As the 114th Congress gets underway, I hope Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, along with Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, will work across party lines to solve the problems we face. Now is the time for continued diplomacy with Iran regarding nuclear weapons, re-evaluating our immigration laws and strengthening our infrastructure.

I support the positions of the Friends Committee on National Legislation. Find out more about their work at fcnl.org.
