Muzzle unsolicited advice
Regarding “Lessons to be learned (Jan. 9)”: It is sad that people who are not faced with an attack are so quick to give advice. Was the (mother’s shooting) incident a sad tragedy? Yes, without question. However, for a person not associated with the tragedy giving unsolicited advice is past bad taste and only compounds the tragedy for those involved.
Perhaps Gary Bumgarner should put himself in the shoes of the victim of an assault and explain to the attacker, “Just a minute, sir. I need to take my safety off my gun and chamber a cartridge and then you may continue with your assault.” We would sadly read about the result of his actions in the newspaper.
Personal tragedies are bad enough, doubly so when children are involved, but unsolicited advice from someone not connected with the tragedy is certainly not wanted and only adds more sorrow, and does not fix anything.
