Shea doesn’t know law
Rep. Matt Shea proves once again that just because he is a lawyer doesn’t mean he knows the law. Laws become unconstitutional when a court declares them so, usually the Supreme Court of either a state or the United States.
That has not happened with Initiative 594, as yet. Last I checked, Shea is not a judge, so his saying a law is unconstitutional does not make it so. Further, the right to bear arms is not affected by I-594.
Requiring background checks with sales and transfers of guns will help at least somewhat to make it harder for criminals and those forbidden to have guns to obtain them. Yes, they can still get them illegally. No law can change that.
Shea, by his stance, prefers to make it easier for criminals to get weapons. Shame on him.
