Boater registrations fund Idaho access sites
BOATING – Idaho boat registrations, which must be renewed starting Jan. 1, help fund county recreational boating services and marine law enforcement activities, the state Department of Parks and Recreation says.
Idaho allows boaters to decide what counties receive their registration dollars.
The annual registration fee for boats 12 feet long and under is $20. The fee is $20 for boats longer than 12 feet plus $2 per foot over 12 feet.
Boats owned by nonprofit organizations are $2.
In addition, all registered boats are required to pay an additional $10 for the Idaho Invasive Species Fund.
Only sailboats and motorboats must be numbered and registered.
Boats that do NOT have to be numbered or registered include boats propelled manually, such as rafts and kayaks and sailboats without a motor.
However, even non-motorized vessels longer than 10 feet must have an invasive species sticker.
